Bellingham forum July 9 focuses on impact of oil trains

As part of a week of oil-train action events, two environmental groups will host a free forum in Bellingham on the impact of oil trains. The forum, hosted by ForestEthics and RE Sources for Sustainable Communities, will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 9, at Bellingham Public Library, 210 Central Ave. Speakers include Laura Skelton, executive director of Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility; Rebecca Ponzio, oil campaign director for Washington Environmental Council; and Steve Garey, past-president of the United Steel Workers Local 12-591, which represents workers at the nearby Shell, Tesoro and Phillips 66 refineries.
